“It’s our great privilege to work alongside our clients, learning about opportunities and obstacles they face in the legislative and regulatory realm, so we can represent them constructively for long-term success.”
A former PR professional and entrepreneur, Laura developed her passion for public policy from engagement on the business side, and a growing understanding of how well-informed policy can improve the business climate and serve the interests of the general public.
After earning a degree in Business Finance from University of Colorado, Laura started a successful consulting business brokering military satellite telemetry data to commercial satellite operators. Five years later she stepped into the general business arena, launching a direct mail advertising business to serve small businesses. From there, she joined Colorado Springs’ largest microbrewery as Community Liaison, developing a ground-breaking strategy for philanthropy and media outreach; with escalating brand awareness, opt-in email subscribers grew by over 800%, with an open rate on email newsletters that was double the industry average. In that role, she also supported the brewing industry’s policy goals by leading grassroots/grasstops campaigns, testifying at the State Capitol, lobbying on behalf of the industry and serving as chair of the Colorado Brewers Guild Government Affairs Committee.
In 2012, Laura left the brewery to run a community fundraising campaign that raised nearly $1 million for local nonprofits in just two months. Highlights among various board and committee roles include the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments Sustainability Committee, and the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region Board of Directors.
Laura is an excellent communicator with a broad business background. Her keen instinct for policy nuance helps her shape proposals to gain a positive response. A persuasive and engaging writer, her work has been featured in numerous publications, and covered topics ranging from pumpkins to gun control.
